Founder and senior financial adviser, Johndrow Wealth Management
Being self-employed came naturally for Lori Johndrow, whose parents, husband, and in-laws were all entrepreneurs. The founder of Johndrow Wealth Management, she has been her own boss since starting out as an insurance agent 34 years ago.
About 20 years ago, she added financial planning and investment management to her practice and now serves a largely female clientele. A naturally optimistic person, Ms. Johndrow offered two big lessons learned over the years.
“Make a choice and go with it. If it doesn’t work, you fix it,’” she said. “And second, just ask. Whether for help or to understand a situation, what’s the worst that can happen? You showed you care enough to ask.”
On being a woman in the industry, she said, “I don’t feel like a lone wolf. We have a sisterhood [of female advisers] and there are great men and women out there who have been happy to help.”
